My name is Sarah Yule, and I am a young people and adult counsellor with a counselling room in Church Crookham. I support clients from Hampshire and the surrounding areas using a range of modalities which tackle issues related to trauma or instances where addiction, anxiety and depression play a role. Visit me in person or, if you prefer, we can meet online or over the telephone.
Below, I answer some of my client’s most frequent questions:
This really depends on you and what you want to get out of our time together. I offer short-term and open-ended therapy. At your initial consultation, we will talk about your needs and expectations. Together we can agree a plan to suit you. This will include regular reviews to ensure that you are continuing to get the most out of the sessions and reflect any changes in your circumstances or needs.
This is dependent on the individual but, to make life simple, I review your progress and discuss how my work as a counsellor has helped you on a regular basis. When you feel ready to step out into the world on your own, we can talk about your progress once again.
Ultimately, I want you to feel comfortable with our relationship and to feel confident enough to oversee your own mental wellbeing.
The role of a counsellor is not to give advice or tell you what to do. It is my belief that the client is the best person to decide on the changes they may need to make. I prefer not to tell my clients what to do. Instead, I continue to support them for as long as they want to work with me and address their main issues.
While we can always move forward together if that is want you would like to do, I leave you in complete control of your own decisions.
Generally, sessions take place weekly, ideally at the same time. We can negotiate a mutually convenient time for this, which fits with your other commitments.
Sessions last for 50 minutes, and my fees are listed below:
I offer concessions to trainee counsellors and university students.
Payments can be made via bank transfer prior to the session, or in cash when you attend. Online sessions must be paid in advance for the counselling session to go ahead.
Yes, I offer sessions after school/college and most evenings. I also offer sessions on Saturdays during the daytime. Please let me know your availability and I will do my best to accommodate you.
There isn’t a reception or waiting area. However, you are more than welcome to wait in your vehicle in the parking area if you are dropping a young person off. You are also welcome to use the toilet facilities should you need to.
Can I please ask you to ensure you do not arrive more than 5 minutes early for your session to avoid client overlap and maintain confidentiality.
Parents/guardians should also be aware that I cannot be responsible for the safety of young clients outside of session times, so it is important that you are prompt in collecting your young person.
If you are unable to attend your session due to holidays, illness or other commitments, please let me know as far in advance as possible. Cancellations made less than 24 hours prior to the session will be charged in full. Rescheduling may be possible but cannot be guaranteed.
Likewise, I will try to give you as much notice as possible if I am unavailable, offering alternative slots if possible.
